Abstract: To tackle the problem regarding the high consumption of medium, the plant conducts a technical investigation of the medium circulation system and adopts a multiple of renovation schemes in both technical and managerial aspects. These involve making stricter control of medium quality, fitting of buffer box, deflector, automatic changeover water-spray pretreatment unit capable of making removal of foreign objects, use of lateral anti-clogging wire mesh for medium draining screen, regulation and improvement of magnetic tailings overflow rates, etc. Meanwhile the management of medium draining, routine maintenance of magnetic separator, use of medium solids and on-site calibration of meters is intensified. Practice of the measures has led to a drop of medium consumption from 3.78 kg/t down to 1.29 kg/t, and a save of operating costs of 7 million yuan a year, yielding as a result a favorable economic result for the plant.
