Abstract
Taiyuan Coal Preparation Plant is a central coking coal preparation plant with a capacity of 5 Mt/a. The raw coal treated is delivered to the plant by rail cars which are then unloaded by using 2 C-type rotary tippers. Over the past years since the tipping system was put into operation in 2008, a series of problems have been revealed, which, on the one hand, affect the safety operation of equipment, and on the other hand, add to both maintenance costs and rail car demurrage charges, disrupting as a result the safe and normal production operation of the plant. Through optimization of the design of the tippering system and upgrading of the monitoring and control system, the plant is made possible to maintain safe and normal operation with reduced labor intensity, failure rate and rail car demurrage expenses.
