    Analysis of the mechanical property of the drum of screen-bowl centrifuge

    • In order to strengthen the stability of screen-bowl centrifuge for improvement of its working performance,a study is made on the strength and deformation of the drum of the centrifuge. Based on the result of theoretical analysis of the structural parameters of the drum,a 3-dimensional entity model of the drum of the screen-bowl centrifuge is developed. The classification and calculation of the loads bearing on the drum and analysis of the relevant mechanical property involved under working conditions are made using linear statics method and finite-element technique with the pressure vessel design criteria as the basis. Result of study shows that: the maximum stress to which the drum is subjected is around 134 MPa which appears at the perforated places of the drum’s filtration section,and at the points of overflow weir and central shaft; and the drum undergoes only negligible deformation-induced axial displacement and radial displacement which are,to the maximum,0. 533 mm and 0. 355 mm respectively with former usually appearing at the overflow weir.
